BeneCheck Total Cholesterol Test Strip (BK-C2)
BK-C2 is the test strip used with the BeneCheck PLUS (BK6-12M) meter to measure total cholesterol in blood. It needs 0.8 µL of blood and gives a result in about 26 seconds. The measuring range is 100–400 mg/dL (2.59–10.35 mmol/L).

Key features of the BK-C2 strip
BK-C2 is BeneCheck's new total cholesterol strip. It needs only 0.8 microlitre (µL) of blood — far less than an ordinary drop.
When the strip is inserted into a BeneCheck PLUS meter, the meter recognises it as a cholesterol strip and switches to cholesterol measurement automatically, so there is no need to select the test on the meter.
Measuring range and units
The measuring range is the span of values for which the strip can give a numerical result. For BK-C2 it is 100 to 400 mg/dL. If the cholesterol level is below or above this range the strip cannot give an exact number; the user manual explains what the meter displays in that case.
mg/dL and mmol/L are two units for the same value. For total cholesterol, 1 mmol/L corresponds to about 38.7 mg/dL; for example, 200 mg/dL is about 5.2 mmol/L.
Points to watch when using the strip
For a reliable result, follow the steps in the strip package insert and in the user manual supplied with the meter. The points most often overlooked are:
- Each strip is for single use only. Do not reinsert a used strip.
- Close the vial cap straight after taking a strip out, and use the strip without delay.
- Do not use strips past their expiry date.
- This strip measures total cholesterol only. Blood glucose and uric acid are measured with their own strips.
- Follow the user manual for storage conditions and coding steps.
Frequently asked questions
- Which meter is the BK-C2 strip used with?
- BK-C2 is used with the BeneCheck PLUS (BK6-12M) multi-monitoring meter. If you have a different BeneCheck model, check compatibility on the package or write to us.
- How long does a cholesterol measurement take?
- A total cholesterol measurement with the BK-C2 strip takes about 26 seconds.
- How much blood is needed?
- 0.8 µL of blood is enough — far less than an ordinary drop of blood.
- Does BK-C2 measure LDL or HDL cholesterol?
- No. BK-C2 measures total cholesterol only. LDL, HDL and triglycerides are not among the values this strip measures; a lipid panel recommended by your doctor is used for those.
- How do I convert the result to mmol/L?
- Divide the result in mg/dL by about 38.7. For example, 200 mg/dL is about 5.2 mmol/L.
- Where can I obtain the BK-C2 strip?
- Contact us through the form on our contact page or by phone. Once we receive your request, we will let you know about availability and the most suitable way to obtain the product.
