Hemostasis and Coagulation Analyzers

HORIBA Yumizen G series analyzers combining routine and specialty hemostasis — from screening assays through to a thrombophilia panel — on a single system.

Hemostasis is a department with its own rules. Instrument selection is driven not only by hourly capacity but by the breadth of the test menu, the measurement methods used and whether reagents arrive ready to use.

The Yumizen G series combines three reference methods: clotting, immuno-turbidimetric and chromogenic. This allows screening assays such as PT and aPTT to run alongside specialty tests like D-Dimer, antithrombin and Protein C/S on one system.

Selection criteria

Breadth of test menu
If only PT, aPTT and fibrinogen are required, a two-channel semi-automatic instrument is sufficient. Where dRVVT, factor assays, antithrombin and Protein C/S are in scope, a model supporting all three measurement methods is needed.
Level of automation
Semi-automatic instruments require the operator to load samples; fully automated models offer continuous loading, automatic reflex and rerun. Reflex capability removes operator intervention on abnormal results.
Hourly capacity
Capacity is compared on a PT basis: fully automated bench-top models reach 150–160 PT per hour, high-capacity systems up to 225. aPTT and D-Dimer capacities are lower and should be assessed separately.
Reagent preparation and calibration
Ready-to-use liquid reagents shorten daily preparation. Instruments using a master calibration curve need no routine calibration, which is a meaningful workload difference in small laboratories.
Pre-analytical sample checking
Models with A-PSI flag problematic samples such as haemolysis, lipaemia or underfilling. Because pre-analytical error rates are high in hemostasis, this reduces the repeat testing rate.

Frequently asked questions

Which tests does a hemostasis analyzer run?
The routine menu covers PT/INR, aPTT, fibrinogen and thrombin time. Depending on the instrument class, D-Dimer, antithrombin, Protein C, Protein S, dRVVT and factor assays (II, V, VII, VIII, IX, X, XI, XII) can be added.
Is a semi-automatic instrument enough for a small laboratory?
If daily hemostasis volume is limited and the menu stays within screening assays and D-Dimer, semi-automatic instruments are sufficient. The Yumizen G200 is a compact two-channel device; the G405 moves to four channels and covers specialty assays.
What does a master calibration curve mean?
It means the instrument runs on a manufacturer-defined calibration curve, so the user does not need to calibrate at every lot change. This reduces routine workload and calibrator consumption.
What does A-PSI change?
Advanced Pre-analytical Sample Integrity assesses the sample before measurement and flags problematic ones. Because hemostasis results are highly sensitive to sample quality, this reduces erroneous results and repeat testing.
Do hemostasis reagents arrive ready to use?
On the Yumizen G series, the majority of laboratory activity is covered by ready-to-use liquid reagents. Reagents needing no preparation shorten daily start-up time and reduce preparation-related variability.
